Consultation on plans to develop a pump bike track in Argoed

So, what is a pump bike track?

It is a special design circuit for cycling and has features such as banked corners so that cyclists can maintain their speed on the bike without pedaling.  Instead, they shift their body weight up and down to create momentum whilst they navigate the track or ‘pumping’.

So, why do you have a pump track?

They are an engaging and safe environment for riders of all levels to practice their techniques in bike handling skills, balance and co-ordination.  It offers a workout too – you are using various muscle groups, and it increases your cardiovascular fitness.

What about community engagement?

Tracks often become a community hub where riders of all ages gather together and improve their skills and also socialise in the fresh air too.  This includes small children, young people and adults too – the whole family.

What if you don’t enjoy cycling?

Hard surface tracks can also be used by skateboards, scooters and rollerblades too, so you won’t miss out!

It is an exciting form of recreation which is growing in popularity and Argoed Community Council is considering the demand for such a facility.  Please fill in the short questionnaire and share your thoughts.
